Global Sustainability Challenge

Collaborating with five Environmental Science/Biochemistry students at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (Zhuhai), we developed a thin layer called “Algae Shield” to address current concerns about microplastics in plastic cups. I was responsible for analyzing legal challenges, developing legal frameworks for solutions, and preparing future financial statements. I independently produced: 1) the 5000-word English proposal, 2) the China and America legal challenges and feasibility report, 3) the English language Financial Statements. Alongside my teammates, I collaboratively produced: 1) an English Language Poster for professional exhibition/discussion, 2) one 5-minute Phase One idea introduction video, and 3) one Phase Two 2-minute concise pitch video. Eventually, our team advanced to the Asia-Pacific Regional Finals of the Global Sustainability Challenge and won the First Prize at Zhejiang University in February 2026. We planned to continue the lab experiments, aiming for an on-campus prototype in 2027 and large-scale commercialization in Zhuhai before 2030.
